I don't mean to be rude, honestly, but that is a stupid idea and you will regret it. A scary looking tattoo is not going to prevent your heart from being broken again, it's only going to limit your dating pool a little bit more. Since black widows and scorpion tattoos raise a red flag (with me at least). I'm either going to think you're goth, or a serial killer, or just someone with a really bad and uncreative tattoo.

How about a more positive symbol?
Raher than doing the whole 'oh I'm hurt I'm never going to let you jerks do that to me again.' use this as a learning thing to help you become better person not a more bitter person. Yes he's an idiot, yes you are worth more than that.
So why make the symbol about him? Make it about you and the glorious, intelligent, woman you are. Something that really means something to you. Ballet shoes could signify strength with elegance or a rainbow could be about the sunshine after the rain or whatever.

If your going to get a tattoo, first off it should be your own idea. Something your happy with being on your body the rest of your life.and secondly, your tattoo doesnt necessarily have to mean anything, but i dont think youll want to look at that tattoo years down the road and think of that stupid guy. What about finding a empowering tattoo to you that you feel represents you becoming a stronger woman or something like that.Instead of dumped and pissed off.Go to the tattoo parlor and look through the books.

I would encourage you to give it six months before putting a permanent tattoo on your body. I understand that you want a reminder to not allow anyone else to walk on you again (uh oh….I think I've just suggest a sandal or footprint) but I'd suggest a temporary or painted on tattoo for now. You'll remember the hurt in your heart and that will be enough. I attended an event with a date once that had a methodist cross tattoed on his right upper arm and I had one painted on just like it for fun. You should try that before a permanent tattoo–which seems like a cool idea now–but wait until you're older. It may not always seem like such a cool idea is my point. And who wants to remember the guy or the incident in such a manner. In any event, I hope you make the right choice for yourself. At least consider getting the tattoo where it can't be seen by others. Imagine being a C.E.O. of a fortune 500 company one day and having a butterfly on your ankle or something. Laser hasn't came far enough to truly erase tattoos–the removal leaves a scar. Forget the guy instead and send him a temp. tattoo of the symbol you think best represents him. How's that for an idea?!

why why why? i know it hurts now but seriously-in ten years time when you are with a man you love and have a good life, why would you want to look down at yourself and be reminded of a bad time and a bad choice by you!!!
dont get the tat and by the time you get to that point you may remember his name but you wont remember his face. unless you have a daily reminder of pain and hurt staring at you!!!
get something happy and free, a bird, a butterfly to signify the future.
but whatever you get make sure you are smiling happily when you choose it. if you choose in anger it will always represent anger.

Don't forever mark yourself over some jerk. If you want a tattoo get one - but make it mean something to you - not the rest of the world. I don't care what peoples tattoos are except to look at them - you have to live with it & it's meaning. Each time you see a tattoo gotten in anger or over a bad relationship, it will bring back all the baggage of that relationship. Don't sabotage your future mental health because you are mad at a guy today.

get a tattoo but not one that shows that you were dumped but one that shows what you have learnt from your experience i.e strength, self love ,peace, wisdom etc , i am not saying that you don't have all of these already but i am sure this experience has taught you something
