Average Price for a Skull Tattoo?

I'm planning on getting a skull tattoo covered in ice and icicles on my right leg and the same skull on my other leg but covered with fire. I was wondering if anyone might know a general price for that area. I'd be getting the tattoo in California (I know their prices are a little higher). If anyone could let me know on some general pricing, I would appreciate it.

depends on the size, and from the way you described it, I'm assuming that you want it 1/3 of the size of your calf. If that is the case, then with color they will probably run you around $400-800. And I grew up in LA and now live in Portland OR, just so you know, prices there were actually cheaper there than they are here.

Always bargain the price of a tattoo, like you're getting it at a garage sale, and when you think they will go no lower, say your highest price plus $20/$40 tip and they will not say no.

They really don't care how much they charge you for the tat when they get a good tip.

I say you should try to get it priced at $400, but offer that with a $40 tip, start negotiating at $250.

Good luck!

The best way to get a price is go to the shop/artist you want to do the work for you and ask him/her how much it would cost. Most artist will not give a price until they see exactly what you want. My husband has been a professional tattoo artist for 21 years this year. I know he will not give prices over the phone. or just by someone telling him what they want. Take your designs into or find what the artist want to draw it up for you. A lot of artists will ask for a deposit to draw it up to be sure that you come back and that he is not wasting his/her time. Mostly it depends on the size and location of the tattoo and location of the tattoo also. Just go ask. I hope this helps. Good Luck !
