In Reference to the Irish Translation for a Tattoo:?

What would be the litaral translation for: "Family above all else?" Also, what is the difference between the words, Muintir and Teaglach? I would like the word for "family" to refer to my immdiate family, as well as my parents, my sisters, my nieces, nephews, cousins, grandparents — but not necessarily everyone who has ever shared my last name.

Given the choice between teaghlach and muintir you should use muintir.Teaghlach does mean household and its not used alot in everyday talk anymore i only ever see it on irish language versions of government lstuff (An Roinn Gnóthaí Sóisialacha agus Teaghlaigh = The departtment of social and family affairs for example.).
So you could use this translation for "Family above all else"
"Muintir thar gach uile ní"
