Life and Death of a Cross Tattoo

The ankh cross (cross with a loop at the top) has several meanings: energy and zest, reproduction and sexual union, male and female, and life and death. The most popular meaning behind the cross is that associated with Christian religion and the crucifixion of Christ. These particular cross designs commonly feature a wooden cross adorned with other highly symbolic items in the Catholic faith: thorns, water, fire, a purple robe and/or projecting light.
