Why Have So Many People Go for a Tribal Tattoo?

I love tattoos and love seeing the different ones on people but what I dont understand is why so many people choose them.Is it lack of imagination or is it for a personal reason?I have found a site and I would be interested to know which catagory you fit into or is it just a meaningless piece of graphic art.

Alphacenturi i'm talking about tribal tattoos only and not all tattoos because even though people may have tattoos which are the same theme they are very rarely the same picture.
Because people are just sheep and copying one another. They have no imagination and no brains either. Most tattooists these days refuse to do tribal tatts anymore because they are so common and it's an insult to their ink artwork.

I think for some people it might be because they have seen others with it, but for many people it may be a reflection of their beliefs about life. They may live a way of life that is more tribal in essence than the life of alienation and degradation we have in "civilized" societies today.

sometimes it looks kinda hot, like when a guy has it wrapped around his arm or something, but some people are just drawn to something that has the tribal look to it, i found a tribal skeleton graphic for my guitar and i'm considering getting it tatooed on my hip or something later on because i thought it was a cool tatoo, i have others that i want, like the eyes of alice cooper somewhere because i've loved his music for years, some have meaning, some don't.

You've sort of said it yourself in that tatoos are supposed to be a sign of your individuality and because just about everyone has got one they are becoming a bit naff.
There's nothing individual when 500 million people have something similar, it's the opposite of of that so your almost a sheep following the flock by getting one now.
It's a bit like wearing last years fashion and yet, unlike a jacket you can't stick it in a wardrobe for a few years.
Why not be different? live on the edge,(lol) and DON'T get one!

I think that the answer is half and half. Lack of imagination and personal reason. Personal reason because you can get tribal designs made anyway you want. You can design it yourself. Lack of imagination because EVERYONE gets tribal tattoos. Who cares if they are different, they are still all tribal tattoos and people like the way they look on other people so they decide to get one. I would never get a tribal tattoo. I like to be completely original.
